With the exception of two feature articles regarding the Japanese influence on global art, the focus of Issue 5 is combating anti-Asian sentiment, a critical topic in our current social and political climate. Fun fact: the above background —Almond Blossoms by Vincent van Gogh— is one of many examples of Japonaiserie: works by van Gogh that feature Japanese formal elements that stem from ukiyo-e (prints from the Edo period In Japan).
